Wide leg pants are life. Wide leg pants are freedom. Wide leg pants are the future. Comfy and breezy and absolutely wedgie free while looking effortlessly chic and keeping everyone guessing "ooh is that...is that a maxi skir––wow nope those are awesome wide leg pants!"
When it comes to pants, I tend to stick to a skinny/slim cut fit because somewhere along the line I got the idea in my mind that my lack of height gets emphasized when I'm wearing bootcut or flared jeans. I'm pretty sure it's all in my head, but still. I think the defining moment when I swore against billowy pants was that one time I tried on a pair of bell bottom jeans at Goodwill. I was so confident I would be able to make them work in a snazzy way, but looking at my reflection literally created the illusion of my entire leg drowning in a sea of vintage faded denim. It went hips, upper thigh, then waves and waves of denim. They looked so much more approachable on the hanger.
Yet even with that history behind me, I saw these pants at TJ Maxx and I had to get them. Twas magnetic. My hands just drifted towards the hanger and I didn't even try these babies on I just bought them on sight for 9.99 and I don't regret it one bit. Wearing it with a black sports bra (who has the money to be buying all the crop tops when it's about to get cold outside: not me) and spicing it up with my gold arm cuff, because I can. Really though if you haven't gotten into the wide leg trend yet, I suggest you do. Free People has been a disciple for forever (but joke's on you if you fall into that trap because you can get the same pants for way cheaper ANYWHERE else I promise), but you can make it your own look with a few unique accessories so no worries.
