I'm just chilling and sitting in the backseat with my bags and my little brothers on the way to Long Beach Airport, and this sunset came out of nowhere and made me realize how much I was going to miss home! Especially because once October hits sunsets won't even be a thing anymore because the sun just goes away and decides to die instead of gracing me and the rest of the east coast with its presence. Sigh. Anyways, it was a great summer and a great sunset and a great car ride and now that I'm back on campus, I'm finally going to post this post (even though it happened in real time almost a week ago).
I always get super excited when I'm boarding the plane because my mind starts thinking things like "Ooo what if there's a cute boy in the seat next to me and we talk for the entire 6 hour flight and he's also going back to Boston for school and surprise he's actually a junior at Harvard so we're going to the same school and we catch a cab together and he helps me move in and then we date and get married and that'd be the best How I Met Your Father story ever"
Ha. I've been seated next to an elderly person for every single flight. The most memorable air passage was when I had a nice (but deaf) old man next to me and a crying pooping baby in the seat in front of me. Easily the longest 6 hours of my 18 year old life.
Also, I absolutely refused to wear my wig for the entire flight. However, I couldn't handle the rachetitidty of going to the bathroom on the plane and coming out with different hair. No one on the flight knows who I am, no one would care either way, these were people who I would never see agin EVER, but I just couldn't. So I just tied my hair in a turban and proceeded to rest easy and sleep on the flight there for as long as I could.
I have one tip to share when it comes to getting dressed for a long long flight.
- Wear stretchy pants.
- And actually here's a bonus tip too, bring a jacket. It doesn't matter how hot it is, bring a jacket because I promise you the person next to you is going to have the air conditioning on blast and even if they don't you can use your jacket as a pillow and you'll thank me in your dreams.
With those helpful tidbits of my infinite sartorial wisdom, I end this post! Yes, the pictures were grainy. Yes I'm not wearing makeup because what's the point of getting all dolled up to stay in the air for hours and get mascara and eyeliner all over my jacket when I'm sleeping on the flight? I'm nothing but practical when it comes to flying in comfort y'all.
(Btdubs, sorry for the long absence! I just finished unpacking my room and getting settled, you guys can definitely look forward to pics of my dorm and snapshots of what I've been up to in a few days)
